Lagos, May 26, 2022. The grand finale of the 11th National Travel Essay Competition (NTEC 2022) is set to take place on Saturday May 28, 2022. The epoch making event, which is organised by Travel & Business News, is scheduled to hold at the Training Hall of the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) Annex, Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Ikeja, Lagos.
Seasoned industry personalities expected to grace the occasion include; Capt. Musa Nuhu, DG, NCAA; Capt. Modibbo Alkali Mahmud, Rector, Nigerian College of Aviation Technology (NCAT), Zaria; Capt. Rabiu Yadudu, MD, Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN); Engr. Akin Olateru, Commissioner, Accident Investigation Bureau (AIB); Prof. Bako Mansur Matazu, DG, Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NIMET); Mr. Matthew Lawrence Pwajok, Ag.MD, Nigerian Airspace Management Agency (NAMA); and Mr. Basil Agboarumi, MD, Skyway Aviation Handling Company (SAHCO) among other high profile guests.
Aimed at discovering hidden talents and encouraging young Nigerians to follow a career in the aviation sector as well as drum up greater awareness and support for the air transport industry, NTEC is geared towards RAISING FUTURE AVIATION PROFESSIONALS in an effort to address the challenges of ageing workforce and skilled manpower shortage.
The competition is open to secondary school students as well as undergraduates of tertiary institutions in the country. Selected finalists whose written works have been assessed will keenly compete for the coveted prize at the Grand Finale where winners will be selected by an Independent Panel of astute aviation professionals drawn from a wide spectrum of the aviation industry.
Topics chosen for this year’s contest include; “The Role of Biometrics and Mobile Technology on The Future of Air Travel,” for the Secondary Schools category, and “Ground Accident Prevention In Air Transportation,” for Tertiary Institutions. Prizes to be won include cash prizes, flight tickets, and corporate gift items.
The Grand Finale also doubles as the annual Air Transport Youth Empowerment Seminar (YES) where students from various secondary schools and tertiary institutions are invited to meet with various industry professionals who share their experiences with participants at a Career Seminar and Exhibition as part of celebrations of the annual Children and Youth Day Celebrations.
NTEC is endorsed by the NCAA and jointly sponsored by various esteemed organizations including FAAN, NAMA, AIB, SAHCO, and NCAT. Others include Kenya Airways; Dana Air; EgyptAir; Nigerian Aviation Handling Company (NAHCO); Sabre Travel Network and OCP International.
