Uganda Airlines, under the high patronage of the Government of Uganda, is set to host the 55th Annual General Assembly (AGA) and Summit of the African Airlines Association (AFRAA). The host airline officially launched the Summit yesterday, in the presence of the Minister of Transport of the Republic of Uganda, Hon. Gen. Katumba Wamala and delegates from AFRAA.
The event, which will be held from the 19th to the 21st of November 2023 at the Speke Resort in Entebbe, Uganda, is expected to attract aviation professionals from across the globe: from North America to Europe; Africa, the Middle East and Asia, including cross-industry players in Taxation, Regulation and Tourism.
The Secretary General of AFRAA, Mr. Abdérahmane Berthé spoke about the importance of the event: “AFRAA is excited to host the 55th AGA in Uganda. As a young and vibrant player in aviation industry in the Eastern African sub-region, staging the AGA at the Uganda Airline’s home base and hub will be a great opportunity for the airline to showcase its profile and its developing role in African aviation. AFRAA looks forward to having the African air transport ecosystem stakeholders in Uganda for a memorable Assembly”, he said.
In her speech, the Chief Executive Officer of Uganda Airlines and AFRAA’s 2023 President, Miss Jenifer Bamuturaki, pledged to make the summit exciting and engaging:
“I believe that this year’s AGM will embark on a journey to address fragility points that the industry grapples with. I also look forward to plenaries that will discuss industry action-based topics dear to my heart like increasing safe spaces for women to thrive in aviation as well as creating optimism for the youth in the industry beyond sustainability. Uganda Airlines is honoured to host the 55th AFRAA Annual General Assembly as the official carrier”, she said.
The event will discuss issues relating to the growth of air transport in Africa in general and existing avenues for growth for African airlines in particular. There will also be exhibition of solutions, products and the latest technologies in aviation by renowned service providers.
