APG Inc, the largest global network for airline services recently held its annual APG Day dedicated to celebrating APG globally by all its member countries in an effort to grow their market with the 2023 theme tagged; “Get To Know APG.”
With a network of over 100 offices worldwide, with 23 in Africa, APG Nigeria was incorporated in 2010 as the country representative for Nigeria.
Addressing Travel Agents during activities to mark the celebrations, Mrs. Gloria Atumu, General Manager, APG Nigeria noted that as a leading travel technology company, APG is focused on providing a wide range of distribution products and services for airlines to minimize costs and increase their revenue.
Some of these products include, General Sales and Service Agent (GSSA); Interline E-ticketing (IET) with multiple airlines and sales through travel agents; ABCS (APG BSP Coordinating Services) offering variable cost access for airlines to 110 BSPs and over 64,000 IATA Travel Agents worldwide; as well as Airline Cargo representation services by country, region or globally that are used by over 100 airlines.
APG also used the occasion to showcase its new sales channel for the IET Product called APG Connect. This is a new web-based booking tool outside of GDS and BSP that is currently being promoted and supported globally by the APG Network.
Mrs. Heloise Parrain, APG Platform Executive Product Director from APG Paris, was present to meet and appreciate the Nigerian travel agencies as well as interact and give training on the new booking platform. She also offered explanations to their questions and challenges faced with its usage.
Speaking further on the company’s consolidation strategy in Nigeria, Mrs. Atumu remarked that, “APG Nigeria has full representation for most of the APG products such as GSSA for TAAG Angola Airline, Cargo for United Airlines, APG IET in which Air Peace is registered and very soon Ibom Air, APG Platform in which we have over 45 active Travel Agencies and APG Connect.”
