Delta Air Lines has commenced operations of Phase 1 of its second Delta One Lounge at Los Angeles International Airport (LAX), expanding its premium ground product in a key West Coast hub. The new facility, situated on the Mezzanine level of Terminal 2, encompasses 4,000 square feet with capacity for 75 guests. A subsequent Phase 2 renovation is slated for completion in 2028.

Concurrent with the lounge activation, Delta will introduce an 11,000-square-foot Delta Sky Club in Terminal 2, with an opening targeted for 2027. The additions increase the airline’s lounge portfolio to 60 locations globally, the largest network operated by a U.S.-based carrier.

Megan Humphreys, Vice President of Delta Sky Club and Lounge Experience, linked the investment to the airline’s premium strategy and capacity planning: “This investment remains congruent to our strategy of elevating the premium experience both at LAX and across our global network. With demand for premium travel continuing to rise and our global footprint expanding, we’re thoughtfully looking at every square foot we have; designing every detail with intention and so that they align with the Delta One experience our customers deserve”, she stated.

According to the airline, Terminal 2 Delta One Lounge is positioned as a distinct, lower-density environment relative to its larger Terminal 3 counterpart. Design emphasis is placed on culinary service continuity, natural illumination via airfield-facing glazing, and regional cultural integration through commissioned works by seven Los Angeles-based artists.

Operational amenities include three shower suites, four cabana-style restrooms, and a full-service premium bar. Productivity provisions feature portable monitors and wireless charging points distributed throughout the seating areas. Phase 2 works will entail a comprehensive refurbishment to align the Terminal 2 facility with design and service standards deployed across the carrier’s other Delta One locations.

The lounge also integrates with Delta’s premium curb-to-gate process at LAX. Eligible passengers may utilize curbside drop-off at Terminal 3, proceed through dedicated Delta One check-in and security screening, and transfer to Terminal 2 via Delta-operated airside transportation.

Culinary programming for both Terminal 2 and Terminal 3 Delta One Lounges centres on California-sourced ingredients and table-service delivery for all seats. Michael Rouleau, Culinary Director, described the menu approach: “Our menu incorporates farm-fresh ingredients year-round, drawing inspiration and delectable produce from California’s rich agricultural landscape. When combined, these rich ingredients create dishes that are both vibrant and grounded in the beauty of California,” he revealed.

Rotating selections include lamb bolognese with house-made lumache pasta, hamachi crudo utilizing fish transported daily from Japan, and French onion soup. Morning service comprises items such as acai bowls and huevos rancheros, alongside pastries and small-batch jams supplied daily by East Hollywood establishment Sqirl. Beverage offerings encompass a signature cocktail program, including the “Island Sapphire” referencing the LAX-Honolulu route, cold-pressed juices such as the Vitality Shot, smoothies, and coffee from Santa Cruz roaster Verve.

The lounge openings form part of a broader infrastructure plan for LAX. By 2028, Delta will operate four dedicated lounge spaces at the airport: two Delta One Lounges and two Delta Sky Clubs in both Terminals 2 and 3.

As LAX’s largest global carrier, Delta currently schedules 151 peak-day departures to 50 destinations. Network expansion includes new nonstop service to Hong Kong and Chicago O’Hare, with upcoming launches to Vancouver on November 21 and to Newark in April 2027. The carrier cited the lounge investments as aligned with increased premium demand and preparations for the LA28 Olympic and Paralympic Games.
