Air Peace Limited has taken delivery of a factory-new Embraer E175, the first of the type in the carrier’s fleet and the first brand-new E175 to enter service in Nigeria. The 88-seat regional jet, registered 5N-CGH, arrived at Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos, at 20:32 on Tuesday, July 7, 2026, following a ferry flight from Brazil after formal handover by manufacturer Embraer.
The induction represents the latest phase of Air Peace’s fleet renewal program and supports its expansion across domestic, West and Central African, as well as international markets. As West and Central Africa’s largest carrier by network and capacity, Air Peace positioned the acquisition as part of a strategy to deploy younger, more fuel-efficient airframes to improve reliability, unit economics, and passenger experience.
Configured in an all-economy 2-2 layout with 88 seats, the E175 eliminates middle seating and is optimized for short-to-medium-haul sectors. Cabin specifications include ergonomically contoured leather seats, increased pitch, enlarged overhead stowage, bigger windows, and an acoustic and lighting package intended to reduce cabin noise and improve ambient comfort. The configuration is designed to provide every occupant with either a window or aisle position.
From an operational perspective, the E175 is equipped with advanced aerodynamic features and fuel-efficient powerplants that yield lower burn per seat-mile, reduced carbon output, and lower community noise levels. The platform’s performance envelope and economics make it suitable for thin to medium-density routes, enabling frequency increases on trunk domestic legs and viable entry into secondary regional destinations.
Commenting on the delivery, the airline’s spokesperson, Mr. Efe Osifo-Whiskey, framed the aircraft as a capability enabler for the airline’s network plan.
According to him, “The arrival of our brand-new Embraer E175 represents far more than the addition of another aircraft to our fleet. It reflects Air Peace’s unwavering commitment to continuous investment in modern aviation assets that improve operational efficiency, strengthen route connectivity, and elevate the overall travel experience for our passengers. The Embraer E175 is ideally suited for our domestic and regional operations, offering the flexibility to efficiently serve existing routes while opening new markets with optimal capacity. For our passengers, this means greater schedule reliability, increased flight frequencies, enhanced onboard comfort, and the premium travel experience they have come to expect from Air Peace.”
“As we continue to expand our network across Nigeria, West Africa, Central Africa, and other international destinations, this aircraft further positions us to respond to growing passenger demand while contributing meaningfully to economic development, regional integration, tourism, and intra-African connectivity”, he said.
The entry-into-service of 5N-CGH adds operational flexibility for the carrier, as it scales frequencies and pursues new city pairs within Nigeria and across the sub-region. The airline stated that the investment reinforces its focus on safety, dispatch reliability, and sustainable growth, while supporting broader objectives of intra-African trade, tourism facilitation, and connectivity.
