Leading Ghanaian airline, Africa World Airlines (AWA), has launched its highly anticipated mobile app and “Celebrations in the Air” (CITA) program during a courtesy visit to the Ghana High Commission in Abuja, Nigeria recently.
A three-man delegation led by Head of Commercial Jonathan Kofi Appiah; AWA Abuja Station Manager Joseph Sunday Akpan and Sales and Marketing Manager Aaron Nortey met with Vice Admiral Seth Amoama, High Commissioner of the Ghana High Commission in Abuja on Wednesday.
Mr. Amoama commended AWA’s commitment to promoting Ghanaian interest. He encouraged the airline to leverage its daily direct flights between Accra and Abuja to boost local tourism, and emphasized the importance of increasing flight frequencies to capitalize on the growing demand:
“We value AWA’s contributions to Ghana’s aviation sector and urge them to explore opportunities to increase flights, enhancing connectivity between our nations,” he stated.
On his part, Mr. Appiah expressed gratitude for the High Commission’s continued support and patronage, attributing the facilitation of seamless travel experiences for Ghanaian citizens and businesses in Nigeria to a longstanding partnership between the two parties.
During the visit, AWA unveiled its CITA program – an innovative platform which, for a minimal fee, gives passengers the opportunity to celebrate their loved ones in-flight on special occasions such as birthdays, engagements, wedding anniversaries etc.
In a statement by the airline, “”Celebrations in the Air” is more than just a service; it is an experience designed to elevate your special moments to new heights. Picture this: You are onboard one of our flights, surrounded by friends and family, with the stunning panorama of clouds and cities passing beneath you. From the moment you step onboard until the time you touch down, our goal is to make your celebration seamless, memorable, and utterly unforgettable. Our dedicated team will ensure every detail is taken care of, from personalized greetings or messages to specially curated gift items and surprises tailored to your celebration.”
AWA equally unveiled its mobile app – available for Android and iOS devices – which enables passengers to book and manage flights efficiently; access real-time flight information and enjoy personalized travel experiences.
Vice Admiral Amoama requested increased baggage allowance for passengers and encouraged AWA to explore creative initiatives promoting travel to Ghana. The airline’s management intends to consider the High Commission’s request for rebated fares for Mission staff, which will facilitate frequent commuting between Accra and Abuja for those involved.
The strategic launching of the CITA program and the airline’s mobile app are in preparation for the peak season, when travelers will be reuniting with loved ones for the upcoming festivities. The initiatives are expected to boost ticket sales, provide seamless travel experiences and strengthen the airline’s customer base as it gears up to face new challenges in the future.
