Bi-Courtney Aviation Services Limited (BASL), operators of the Murtala Muhammed Airport Terminal 2 (MMA2) has had cause to commend one of its staff, Mr. Eluu Emmanuel for his rare display of honesty and integrity, after he found and returned a bag containing a passenger’s personal effects worth millions of naira. The benevolent gesture earned him a letter of commendation and a cash reward.
According to sources, the extraordinary deed occurred at 15:10Hrs on August 31, 2021 after Mr. Elu, a driver, found the said bag aboard one of the passenger shuttles at the airside at MMA2. The Good Samaritan immediately shared this information with his supervisor, who in turn alerted the necessary authorities.
Mr. Ola Azeez, Group Head, Human Resources, Resort International who presented the reward to Mr. Eluu had this to say about the incident:
“Others would have picked up the bag and walked away, and such would have been difficult to trace – if not totally impossible. What could only have happened would have been to indict everybody working the shift when the incident occurred. But we thank you for your honesty; for picking up the item and handing it over to the appropriate authorities. Your singular action is clearly in sync with the core values of the organization.”
The Ag. Business head of BASL, Mr. Raphael Uchegbu noted that integrity is a hallmark at BASL as evidenced by the actions of the various superiors of Mr. Eluu who copied his honorable example and saw that the bag was returned to its legitimate owner.
BASL confirms that the rightful owner of the bag had long been found and had joyfully recuperated his lost luggage, with all its contents intact.
