With a successful career spanning over eighteen years in the Nigerian aviation industry, Engr. Dr. Mrs. Felicia Agubata soars higher following her recent inauguration into the Technical Board of Directors for the National Agency for Science and Engineering Infrastructure (NASENI). The inaugural ceremony which took place at the Headquarters of NASENI in Abuja on September 30, 2021 was chaired by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Boss Mustapha.
At the ceremony, the elated Engr. Agubata gave heartfelt thanks to the President, Muhammad Buhari for setting in motion the Diversity and Inclusion Policy of the Association of Professional Women Engineers of Nigeria (APWEN), that was developed under the “Sheengineer Invent It, Build It” initiative – a project which was her brainchild and sponsored by Royal Academy of Engineering UK (GCRF African Catalyst) in partnership with University of West of Scotland.
She went on to voice her gratitude to various organizations, people and committees who accompanied her on her professional journey and made certain accomplishments possible, as follows:
“I want to thank the Council for Regulation of Engineering in Nigerian (COREN) and the Nigerian Society of Engineers’ (NSE) leadership: Engr. A. A. Rabiu – FNSE and Engr. Babagana Mohammed – FNSE, for the implementation of this policy document. Special thanks to the APWEN diversity & Inclusion Committee Chairman, Engr. Idiat Amusu and all Committee members. The journey that started in 2019 is already yielding fruits. Thank you COREN and NSE for Ensuring Diversity in all you do. Thank you Royal Academy of Engineering UK for making this journey possible.”
The appointment comes as a well-deserved recompense following an extended career during which Engr. Agubata served in numerous and diverse roles. She is currently the Assistant General Manager, Nigerian Airspace Management Agency (NAMA); was the fifteenth President of APWEN 2018-2019; and has served as a member of the Board of directors of PEDI, among others.
An indefatigable visionary, Engr. Agubata was recently recognized by the Aviators Africa CEO Forum, who awarded her the Change Maker award for STEM, to be presented on October 27 at the Aviation Leadership CEO Forum/ Aviators Africa Towers awards ceremony.
