South African Airways (SAA) and Kenya Airways have announced a novel Lounge Access agreement as an integral part of the Strategic Framework Agreement (SFA) signed by both carriers in late 2021, aimed at boosting sales for both airlines.

Sources say the Lounge Access agreement will allow Platinum and Gold subscribers of the Sky Team Elite as well as the Business Class clients of Kenya Airways to both benefit from the exquisite lounge services on offer at the SAA state-of-the-art Platinum lounge at the O.R Tambo International Airport – Johannesburg, South Africa; with two (02) lounge options to choose from. Also, both sets of customers can expect to have a similar tasteful experience in Nairobi – Kenya, courtesy of Kenya Airways.

The Executive, Commercial Operations for SAA, Simon Newton-Smith who addressed the reciprocal nature of the agreement with pride said such reciprocity can only allude to “the benefits of the strategic partnership for both airlines.”

On his part, the Chief Commercial and Customer Officer for Kenya Airways, Julius Thairu, noted that both parties have pledged to deliver on one of the principal aims of the partnership, which is the provision of mutually beneficial services for the clientele of both parties – a clientele which according to him, is increasingly demanding a more personalized travel experience as the air travel industry continues its resuscitation.
