Nigerian philanthropist and Chief Executive Officer of Air Peace, Allen Onyema, has rewarded eleven-year-old Nigerian gymnast, Stephanie Ogechukwu Onusiriuka, for winning a Gold Medal at the Junior Olympics of the African Club Championship in Pretoria – South Africa. The incentive, which came in the form of free flights to any of Air Peace’ destinations and a million naira was given to the child athlete for “setting a good example” worthy of emulation by other young Nigerians.
From his seat at Air Peace’ headquarters in Lagos, Onyema congratulated the young talent thus: “She should be a role model for other children coming up. Instead of taking to the streets and engaging in all sorts of vices, she has set a good example for others to follow.”
“Going forward, if she has a program/training/competition in any of Air Peace’ destinations, we shall be flying her there free of charge. We will also give her a token of one (01) million naira to encourage her to continue to do more. Air Peace has done its bit, so Nigeria and the private sector too should endeavour to help her in whichever way they can”, he said.
In addition to being a Gold Medalist at the African Club Championship games, the young prodigy, Stephanie Onusiriuka also bagged a Bronze Medal at the Ilorin Youth Games in 2019; a Gold Medal, two (02) Silvers and a Bronze Medal during the National Sports Festival in Edo State. She was crowned Most Outstanding Child Athlete at “Nigeria @ 60” in 2020.
